Just to the right (east) of the entry path from the gate
A circular memorial plaza, including a commissioned kinetic sculpture donated by Rita and the late Pat Crooks. The plaza is surrounded by a grove of diverse birches, ferns, and Marathon County blue stone boulders. The rest of the wildflower woods consists of native trees and understory plants, with trails paved using stabilized aggregate from Kafka Granite. It’s a peaceful place to sit and read, have lunch, sip a coffee or lemonade, or simply contemplate the natural environment around you.
Our garden kaleidoscope is located in the southeast corner of this garden; spin the bowl, look through one of the eyepieces and be dazzled by the swirling patterns of many colors.

Special thanks to
The many donors who had trees and shrubs planted in memory of loved ones, who underwrote memorial benches and who contributed toward the acquisition and placement of the boulders. Their names are on plaques and tags around the Garden. The Robert W. Baird & Co. Foundation and the Wausau Marathon County Parks Foundation, Inc., sponsored the informational kiosk.
