Learn more about the Gardens through a one-hour tour of the grounds! Learn the history of the Gardens, a bit about each unique garden space and get a glimpse into the Gardens’ future plans. Walks are led rain or shine and are entirely outdoors, please dress for the weather and meet at the main gate.

Gain a new perspective on the Gardens by diving into a specific garden, feature, or aspect of the Gardens. Walks are led rain or shine and are entirely outdoors, please dress for the weather and meet at the main gate.
June 1 Birds & Nests in the Gardens - Learn a bit more about the feathered critters that call the Gardens home, their nests, what they eat, and more. Bring binoculars if you have them.
June 8 Wildflower Woods Wonders - Wildflower Woods is growing! Over 300 new plants were installed in the fall of 2018. Learn more about the future of Wildflower Woods and the progression of the gardens.
June 15 Plant Mapping Project - Have you ever seen pink and orange ribbons tied to the plants and trees in the Gardens? On this tour, you’ll learn more about what those mean to the Gardens and our plant mapping project.
June 22 Art & Sculptures in the Gardens - Within the Gardens are a few unique art and sculpture pieces including a kaleidoscope, wind sculpture, torii gate, and treehouse. Learn more about the history of these pieces and where they came from.
June 29 Bees & Pollinators - Bees and insects are some of our greatest volunteers, learn more about the kinds of pollinators you can find in the Gardens and the important job they play.
July 6 Edible Flowers - You eat roots, stems, and leaves all the time - but what about flowers? Take a walk through the Gardens for a unique opportunity to taste some of the flowers being grown.
July 13 Kitchen Garden - Every summer the Kitchen Garden follows a theme and serves a variety of purposes. Learn more about each garden bed and their uses in Monk Gardens’ education programs and events.
July 20 Gardens in the Making: Sara’s Garden and the Hosta Garden - Get the inside scoop on the two new garden spaces being developed through 2019 and into the future. One with a focus on play spaces for kids and one being installed by Master Gardeners.
July 27 Trees in the Gardens - Though each spring we focus on planting seeds and pulling weeds, we should take a moment to appreciate the variety and importance of trees. Come learn a bit about the common and unique trees in the Gardens.
